MONROVIA — Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung has responded to reports and public discussions surrounding an incident involving him at an airport in Brussels, Belgium, denying that his shoes or jacket were removed during the encounter.

In a statement responding to the controversy, Vice President Koung said the incident had generated discussions similar to those surrounding his travel arrangements in 2024.

“In 2024, I flew on a private jet belonging to a friend of mine, free of charge, and there were issues and discussions,” Koung said.

He explained that, during his latest trip, he opted to use the regular travel route used by other passengers and visited Duty Free stores to purchase items for his daughter.

“This trip, I chose to use the regular route that everyone uses to pick up a few things for my daughter from the Duty Free stores, and again there are discussions,” he added.

Koung emphasized that “no shoes, no jacket was removed,” while attributing the renewed public attention to what he described as “the effect of the package.”

His comments come amid public discussions surrounding his treatment at the Brussels airport and his recent travel.
