GBLORSEO TOWN, Rivercess County — Residents of Nyorwein Administrative District are expected to have improved access to essential healthcare services following the completion of the construction and rehabilitation of the Gblorseo Health Center.
The project, funded by the Government of Liberia with support from the World Bank, was implemented by Deogratias Construction Incorporated and began on June 1, 2025, before being completed in July 2026.
The Gblorseo Health Center is part of a broader government initiative to rehabilitate and upgrade 12 primary healthcare facilities across six counties in Liberia.
The initiative focuses on strengthening healthcare delivery, particularly reproductive, maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health services.
Under the project, the Gblorseo facility was selected as a Primary Healthcare Level Two facility under Lot Number Three.
The rehabilitation is expected to improve the health center’s capacity to provide critical medical services to residents of Nyorwein District and nearby communities, many of whom have faced challenges accessing essential healthcare.
Residents have welcomed the completion of the facility and expressed appreciation to the Government of Liberia and the World Bank for supporting the project.
Nyorwein Administrative District Commissioner Anthony Zweagar said the intervention would help address some of the major challenges confronting the health center and residents of the district.
Commissioner Zweagar said the facility previously lacked several critical healthcare services, creating difficulties for residents who depended on the clinic for medical care.
He expressed gratitude to the government and the World Bank for ensuring that the project was not only initiated but also completed.
According to local residents, the improved facility is expected to reduce the need for patients to travel long distances to seek certain healthcare services outside the district.
The completion of the Gblorseo Health Center adds to ongoing efforts by the government and development partners to strengthen primary healthcare delivery and improve access to quality health services in rural communities
