Kigali, Rwanda, September 25, 2026 — Thousands of Rwandan-based Liberians walked out of Amahoro stadium in disappointment as Rwanda, nicknamed Amavubi, produced an efficient attacking display to claim all three points against Liberia’s Lone Star in a crucial AFCON 2027 Qualifier match.
Rwanda struck three times: The goal scorers who crushed Liberia and their current football clubs:
1) Abeddy Biramahire (Left Winger), born on October 4, 1998, and now plays for Al-Batin FC in Saudi First Division League in Saudi Arabia, Western Asia. Biramahire scored on the Lone Star in the 2nd minute.
2) Leroy-Jacques Mickels (Forward), born on June 25, 1995, and now plays for Club side SV Waldhof Mannheim in The Liga 3 (Third Division) in Germany, Western Europe. Leroy-Jacques scored in the 33rd minute.

Liberia responded five minutes after Rwanda’s Meckels’ 33rd-minute goal when Sylvanus Nimely pulled a goal back in the 38th minute, briefly raising hopes of a comeback.
Suddenly, Liberia’s task became even tougher in the second half when Kpah Sherman was shown a red card in the 61st minute, leaving the Lone Star to finish the match with 10 players against 11.
