Liberia has recorded its third international cruise arrival of 2026, with the SH Diana bringing 141 international passengers to Monrovia as part of a 13-night expedition along the West African coast.
The vessel, operated by Swan Hellenic, began its voyage in Dakar, Senegal, on September 16, with scheduled stops in The Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana.
During its Monrovia call, passengers visited several historical and cultural sites, including the Ducor Hotel, National Museum of Liberia, Providence Baptist Church, Providence Island and the Centennial Pavilion.
The visits provided travelers with exposure to Liberia’s history, cultural heritage, religious traditions and connections to the African diaspora.
The Liberia National Tourism Authority (LNTA), in collaboration with the Liberia National Tourism Association (LINTA), coordinated activities for the visiting passengers and facilitated their tours of key attractions in the capital.
At Providence Island, the visitors were welcomed with a cultural performance by the National Culture Troupe.
Providence Island is historically associated with the arrival of the first settlers from the United States in 1822 and the early development of the settlement that later became Liberia.
The latest cruise arrival adds to Liberia’s growing cruise tourism activity and provides another opportunity to showcase the country’s historical and cultural attractions to international visitors.
