Kwarbo Family Member Alleges Pressure Behind Wife’s Statement

MONROVIA, Liberia — A member of the family of police officer Wadell Kwarbo has alleged that Kwarbo’s wife, Bendu, was pressured into issuing a statement concerning her husband’s reported involvement in a drug-related case.

The family member, who spoke to Verity News on condition of anonymity, claimed that Kwarbo’s lawyers had not authorized or endorsed the statement and maintained that the officer has consistently denied knowingly transporting illegal drugs.

According to the source, Kwarbo allegedly told his family and lawyers that he escorted a grey van on instructions from his superior, Police Inspector General Gregory Coleman, without knowing that drugs were inside.

The family member further alleged that Kwarbo’s wife was assured that her husband would be released if public attention surrounding the case subsided.

These allegations have not been independently verified, and Coleman has not been given an opportunity to respond to the claims in the information provided.
