Rivercess County — The Global Logistics Mining Company (GLM), a subcontractor of Bea Mountain Mining Corporation, has begun rehabilitating the road linking Yarpah Town through One House to Zammie Town in Rivercess County.
The intervention comes amid concerns from residents over the poor condition of the roadway, which has reportedly made transportation difficult, particularly during the rainy season.
GLM Community Relations Supervisor Hilary Mentoe said the company has deployed about seven types of heavy-duty equipment to facilitate the rehabilitation.
According to Mentoe, excavators are being used to clear overgrown vegetation and remove mud from affected sections, while bulldozers will push the mud away and reshape the roadway.
He said Bea Mountain Mining Corporation has also provided 20 truckloads of crushed rock for the project. He explained that severely damaged sections would first be filled with larger rocks before crushed rock is placed on top and leveled with a motor grader.
The road rehabilitation follows a previous intervention funded through the Rivercess County Development Funds. During the 2025 budget year, the county allocated US$146,000 for rehabilitation of the Yarpah Town-to-One House road.
According to local authorities, SP Innovative Construction Company, which was contracted for the project, reportedly received about 40 percent of the allocated amount but later stopped work, citing the rainy season.
A Verity News site visit on Friday, September 25, 2026, confirmed ongoing GLM rehabilitation activities, particularly between James and Saryah Town. An engineer involved with the project clarified that the rehabilitation covers the road from Yarpah Town in District #2 to Zammie Town in District #1.
Meanwhile, Mentoe said GLM has also undertaken rehabilitation of the Kploh-Zammie road toward Sand Beach Junction, describing it as an important shortcut for residents.
He said GLM is undertaking the intervention without financial support from the national government but will work with county engineering authorities to ensure proper monitoring.
Mentoe added that the Rivercess County Resident Engineer will monitor the rehabilitation as the work progresses.
