Former First Lady, Clar Weah’s City of Hope Dedicated in Margibi County

Former First Lady Clar Marie Weah has dedicated the City of Hope, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at transforming the lives of Liberia’s most vulnerable populations.

Located in Marshall, Margibi County, the City of Hope is a multi-purpose facility that offers shelter, education, vocational training, and rehabilitation services to orphans, street girls, and at-risk youths.
The dedication ceremony, attended by government officials and community leaders, highlighted the project’s potential to uplift disadvantaged communities.

Mrs. Weah emphasized the importance of providing a safe and nurturing environment where young Liberians can develop the skills and confidence needed to build a brighter future. She further stated that “every opportunity within the walls of city of hope will serve as a testament to the power of collective action and compassion.

The City of Hope is more than just a facility; it’s a lifeline for those who have been marginalized by society.”

Speaking also at the program was Hon. Gbeme Horace Kollie, Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection. She emphasized the importance of the project stating “we need more of these gestures in Liberia”.

She further praised the former First Lady and the founder of the City of Hope Madam Clar Marie Weah for taking the initiative in helping street kids get access to proper care and good education.

“These kids are our future and the time for us to take action is now” she further stressed.
By offering access to education and vocational training, the project aims to break the cycle of poverty and create opportunities for self-sufficiency.
The rehabilitation services provided will help at-risk youths overcome the trauma of their past and equip them with the tools to thrive.

In addition to the immediate benefits for its residents, the City of Hope is expected to have a ripple effect throughout Liberia.
By empowering the nation’s youth, the project contributes to the broader goal of national development, fostering a generation of educated, skilled, and resilient citizens.

The mission of the City of Hope will continue to expand and evolve, addressing the ever-changing needs of Liberia’s vulnerable populations.
This initiative stands as a testament to Clar Weah’s enduring commitment to humanitarian work and her vision for a more inclusive Liberia.

The City of Hope represents a significant stride towards social equity and empowerment, offering a model for how targeted interventions can create lasting change in the lives of those most in need.
