Montserrado County Senator Abraham Darius Dillon sees the 5-year Statute of Limitation Law as an impediment to fighting corruption and bad governance in Liberia.
According to the senator, the duration of five years as a statute to legally punish government officials who go contrary to norms in governance is counter-productive and has a short limit.

The senator said such law is making lot of former government officials who have criminally rubbed the Liberians people are walking out with impunity.
“This law is only giving the leverage to people who commits crime after five years”, a convincing statement he made to his colleagues as they resumed session on Tuesday, October 15, 2024.
Meanwhile, the vocal lawmaker has come down hard on his own “Rescue Mission Government giving early warning against late presentation of the Draft National Budget by the Executive branch.
Per the Law, the Executive Branch of government through the Ministry of Finance are poised to present a draft national budget on October 31 yearly.
According to Senator Dillon, both draft National and recast budgets presentation were overdue, making it almost impossible for lawmakers to carefully scrutinize these laws upon passage.
He warmed that same action by the Executive Branch should not be repeated as doing so would create more controversies surrounding the national budget.
The senator at the same time emphasized that the Ministry of Public Works Roland Giddings be made to appear before the Senate Plenary to answer to inquiries on the deplorable road condition being faced by Liberia particularly Montserrado County.
The two-time voted-for Legislator said there is a need that Minster of Labor review work permit.
Senator Abraham Darius Dillon noted that the minister must take decisive action against the abuse of work permit.

He believes this is depriving Liberians from getting private sector jobs while foreigners continue to make thousands and millions of dollars through the work permit medium.
