Boakai Breaks Ground for Major Road Rehabilitation Project in Lofa 

President Joseph N. Boakai officially launched the long-awaited rehabilitation project for the 47-kilometer stretch of road connecting Foya City to Foya Tengia and Worsonga, passing through Konkpama Town in Lofa County, on Friday, December 27, 2024. The groundbreaking ceremony marks a significant milestone in improving infrastructure in the region, which poor road conditions have plagued for years.

During the ceremony, President Boakai appreciated the collaborative efforts that made the project possible. He particularly acknowledged Senator Saah H. Joseph of Montserrado County, Representative Thomas P. Fallah of District #1 in Foya District, and Minister of Internal Affairs Francis Sakila Nyumalin, who were present at the event. The officials were in Lofa County as part of the celebrations for the 60th anniversary of Bong, Grand Gedeh, Lofa, and Nimba Counties gaining county status.

In his remarks, President Boakai praised Senator Joseph for his contribution to the project, specifically for making available the necessary machinery to begin the road rehabilitation work. The President emphasized the importance of this road project, which is expected to improve significantly transportation and accessibility in Lofa County, benefitting local communities and facilitating regional trade.

The rehabilitation of this stretch of road has been a longstanding concern for the residents of Lofa County, who have struggled with poor road infrastructure that hampers their ability to access essential services and markets. With the road’s repair, the region is expected to see improvements in economic activity, education, healthcare access, and overall development.

Senator Saah H. Joseph and Representative Thomas P. Fallah both voiced their support for the project, highlighting the importance of infrastructure development in fostering regional growth and unity.
