MONROVIA – Liberian-American activist Norris Johnson has called on opposition political leaders to clarify their positions regarding a viral video allegedly linked to a recent drug seizure in the VOA/Duazon community.
In a statement, Johnson referenced the arrest of two foreign nationals following the seizure of cocaine reportedly valued at more than US$300 million. He also cited an unverified video circulating on social media in which two men allegedly demanded the release of the suspects, the confiscated drugs, and about US$2 million within 24 hours.
Johnson questioned comments made by opposition figures, including former Finance Minister Samuel D. Tweah and CMC Political Leader Musa Bility, who have reportedly urged the government to treat the video seriously.
He called on the opposition to clarify whether they are advocating for a thorough security investigation or proposing any other course of action. Johnson stressed that drug trafficking poses a serious threat to Liberia’s national security and said all suspects should be afforded due process under the law.
He further urged the government to investigate any credible security threats while ensuring the independence of the country’s justice system and adherence to the rule of law.
