President Joseph Nyuma Boakai is currently in Accra, Ghana, attending the inauguration ceremony of President-elect John Dramani Mahama and Vice President-elect Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang.
He departed Liberia on Monday, January 6, 2025, to participate in this historic event, which highlights Ghana’s democratic progress and reaffirms the strong and enduring relationship between Liberia and Ghana.
This visit reflects the mutual commitment of Liberia and Ghana to regional unity and the promotion of democratic governance.
It also serves as an opportunity for Liberia to reaffirm its dedication to fostering peace and cooperation across West Africa.
President Boakai is joined on this diplomatic mission by First Lady Kartumu Y. Boakai and a high-level delegation that includes Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow Nyanti, Information Minister Jerolimek M. Piah, Minister of State without Portfolio Mamaka Bility, Chief of Protocol Antoinette M. Wolo, and Liberia Maritime Commissioner General Neto Z. Lighe.
During his stay, President Boakai is expected to engage with other African leaders and international dignitaries to strengthen Liberia’s diplomatic relations and explore avenues for collaboration in areas of shared interest.
While President Boakai is in Ghana, Minister of State for Presidential Affairs Sylvester M. Grigsby will oversee Cabinet activities in consultation with Vice President Jeremiah Koung, ensuring continued governance and communication with the President.
Liberians join in congratulating President-elect Mahama and the people of Ghana on this democratic milestone.
The visit underscores Liberia’s optimism for deeper partnerships with Ghana in the coming years.
President Boakai is scheduled to return to Liberia on January 8, 2025, following the conclusion of the inauguration ceremony.
