MONROVIA – Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) Secretary General Jefferson Tamba Koijee has called for the resignation or dismissal of Liberia National Police Inspector General Gregory Coleman, alleging misconduct within the police force following recent developments in the country’s high-profile drug seizure investigation.
In a statement, Koijee accused elements of the Liberia National Police of involvement in organized criminal activities, including drug trafficking, human trafficking, passport fraud, and the release of criminal suspects.
He further alleged that Police Officer Johnny Bolar Dean, recently relieved of duty over allegations that he accepted a US$10,000 bribe linked to the drug case, had previously been dismissed from the police in 2016 before being reinstated and later promoted under Coleman’s leadership.
Koijee described Dean’s dismissal as an attempt at “damage control” rather than genuine accountability and argued that Coleman should step down as Inspector General.
The Liberia National Police has not publicly responded to Koijee’s allegations. The claims remain allegations made by the opposition official and have not been independently verified by this publication.
