Chinese Ambassador to Liberia Yin Chengwu has assured Liberia of China’s continued support in improving agricultural production, introducing modern farming equipment, and strengthening the country’s efforts to achieve food security.
Ambassador Yin gave the assurance on Friday, October 30, during the handover of 304 agricultural machines to the Liberian Government.
He described agriculture as an important part of Liberia’s development, noting that it contributes to food security, economic growth, and the livelihoods of ordinary citizens.
The Chinese envoy said Liberia has the land and natural resources needed to produce more food but requires modern equipment, improved farming methods, and better facilities to process agricultural products.
He reaffirmed China’s willingness to work with Liberia in developing its agricultural sector, improving food production, and creating better opportunities for local farmers.
Yin described the donation of the 304 machines as another step in the longstanding relationship between the two countries, expressing hope that their cooperation would bring further improvements to Liberia’s agriculture.
The equipment is expected to assist farming activities and help farmers increase production across the country.
The donation comes as Liberia continues efforts to reduce its reliance on imported food and encourage local production as a means of improving livelihoods and strengthening the economy.
