The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has stepped up inspections of businesses in Grand Gedeh County as part of an effort to ensure compliance with Liberia’s commercial laws and regulations.
Commerce Inspector Miantor Sei Gbaryu and his inspection team are visiting businesses across the county to check registration documents and other requirements.
The inspections are focused on businesses operating without registered business or service names, valid documentation and clearly displayed prices.
Inspector Gbaryu has urged business owners to ensure that their establishments meet all legal requirements before continuing operations.
He said proper registration and transparent pricing are important to protecting consumers and ensuring that businesses operate on a level playing field.
The Commerce Inspector also warned business owners that those who fail to comply could face enforcement action, including warnings and possible closure for continued violations.
He encouraged traders and other business operators to cooperate with the inspection team and use the exercise as an opportunity to put their businesses in order.
The enforcement campaign comes as the Ministry continues efforts to strengthen oversight of commercial activities and ensure that businesses across Liberia follow established regulations.
The Ministry says compliance will help protect consumers, promote fair competition and prevent properly registered businesses from being disadvantaged by operators who ignore the law.
Inspector Gbaryu is calling on all business owners in Grand Gedeh County to take the inspections seriously and ensure that their businesses have the necessary registration and documentation as the enforcement exercise continues.
