Lower Margibi County Labour Commissioner Johnson Quaqua has launched the second phase of his self-initiated Vacation Job Program, aimed at providing temporary employment opportunities for underprivileged students during the school break.
The initiative was unveiled during a meeting with more than 800 students at the Harbel Multilateral High School campus in Lower Margibi County.
Speaking at the gathering, Commissioner Quaqua said the program is intended to provide over 250 Liberian students with short-term employment, enabling them to gain valuable work experience while earning money to purchase school materials ahead of the next academic year.
According to him, the vacation jobs will last for approximately two months and form part of his efforts to support disadvantaged students through practical employment opportunities.
Commissioner Quaqua described the launch of the second phase as another milestone under his leadership as County Labour Commissioner and thanked the Ministry of Education and the student community for their cooperation and the overwhelming turnout.
He also urged all beneficiaries to maintain discipline and professionalism throughout the program. He specifically warned participants against improper dress and any form of indiscipline while on duty, stressing that good conduct would be essential to the success of the initiative.
The Vacation Job Program is expected to provide both financial support and workplace experience for participating students as they prepare to return to school.
