Day One of Preliminary Hearing in Koffa, Other Lawmakers vs. Government Case

The preliminary hearing in the high-profile case of former Speaker Fonati Koffa and other lawmakers against the Government commenced today, Tuesday , June 10, 2025, at the Temple of Justice. The court proceedings began with significant testimonies from state witnesses, revealing shocking allegations against the defendants.

Among the evidence presented, it was reported that Koffa’s social media post specifically a word used on Facebook “Alamo” was allegedly utilized to incite the perpetrators involved in the crimes in question. Furthermore, testimony indicated that Jacob Debee was present in a vehicle during discussions regarding plans to set a building ablaze, while Abu Kamara was identified as the chief financier of the incendiary act.

Following the hearing, former Speaker Koffa addressed journalists, firmly denying any wrongdoing. “There is no substantive evidence against me, only my post ‘they said,’ which has been misunderstood,” Koffa stated, maintaining his innocence amidst the ongoing legal scrutiny.

Both Abu Kamara and Jacob Debee echoed similar sentiments, dismissing the case as a frivolous waste of their valuable time. As the proceedings unfold, Peter Johnson stands as a pivotal state witness, offering crucial insights into the case.
