Monrovia, Liberia — Dismissed Liberia National Police (LNP) Chief of Highway Patrol Wadell Kwarbo has alleged that Police Inspector General Gregory Coleman instructed him to escort a vehicle carrying the cocaine shipment recently seized by authorities.
Speaking from prison in an interview with Spoon FM, Kwarbo claimed that IG Coleman directly ordered him to provide the escort using patrol vehicle RL-141.
“Police IG Gregory Coleman ordered me to escort the van. He instructed me to escort the drugs with patrol vehicle (RL-141). And I acted on his order,” Kwarbo said.
He called for the release of his written statement and said his telephone call records could be subpoenaed by a court to establish whether the alleged communication occurred.
Kwarbo further maintained that he escorted the drugs because he was acting on instructions from the Police Inspector General.
His allegation follows earlier remarks by his father, who said Kwarbo had told him before his imprisonment that a senior police officer had called and instructed him to escort the drugs.
The allegations have not been independently verified, and Coleman has not, in the information provided, publicly responded to the claim.
