The Environmental Protection Agency, with support from the Liberia National Police, has arrested more than 15 Chinese nationals in Lower Montserrado County for allegedly causing massive environmental damage and operating without environmental permits.

According to authorities, the individuals were apprehended during an operation targeting illegal activities believed to be harmful to the environment.

The EPA said the suspects were operating without the required environmental permits, in violation of Liberia’s environmental protection laws.

Officials further disclosed that investigations are ongoing, while the arrested individuals are expected to face legal action in connection with the alleged offenses.

The joint operation forms part of ongoing efforts by the government to clamp down on environmental violations and protect natural resources across the country.
