River Gee County — The Liberia National Police – LNP, River Gee detachment have launched a full-scale investigation into a disturbing case involving the alleged public humiliation, abuse, and degrading treatment of a 58-year-old woman accused of practicing witchcraft.

According to police reports, the incident occurred on March 8, 2026, in Torroken Town, Kilepo Chiefdom, where the victim, identified as Madam Regina Partah, a 58-year-old Grebo woman, was allegedly stripped naked and forced to parade through the community by a group of men who accused her of being a witch.

The incident has sparked widespread concern after a video surfaced on social media showing the woman being subjected to what many have described as cruel, inhumane, and degrading treatment.

Police investigations revealed that the victim was accompanied by Abraham Koklue, a 21-year-old Guinean national believed to be a traditional medicine practitioner.

Authorities allege that Koklue was carrying a single-barrel rifle, fired several rounds into the air, and ordered the victim to squat repeatedly while she was being publicly paraded before community members.

Following the emergence of the video online, officers of the Liberia National Police swiftly intervened and commenced an investigation into the matter.

As a result of preliminary findings, police have arrested five individuals allegedly linked to the incident.

The suspects have been identified as:

Abraham Koklue, Cyrus Tenpo, Thomas Sloh,

Doe Wapplo II and Patrick Swen.

Speaking to our reporter in the county, ACP Theophilus Togbah, Commander of the Liberia National Police detachment in River Gee County, confirmed the arrests and disclosed that the suspects are currently undergoing investigation at the county police headquarters.

ACP Togbah urged residents to remain calm and allow the legal process to take its course while investigators continue gathering evidence surrounding the incident.

“The investigation remains active, and anyone found criminally liable will be dealt with in accordance with the laws of Liberia,” ACP Togbah stated.

Meanwhile, sources familiar with the matter allege that some local chiefdom leaders have reportedly attempted to discourage residents from speaking publicly about the incident.

According to these sources, individuals with knowledge of the alleged abuse were threatened and warned against revealing details surrounding the victim’s treatment.

Despite these reported efforts to suppress information, the incident eventually came to public attention after the circulation of the video on social media, triggering widespread outrage and calls for justice.

Human rights advocates and concerned citizens have since called on authorities to ensure that those responsible are held accountable and that the rights and dignity of all citizens, particularly vulnerable women and the elderly, are protected as the case remains under active investigation by the Liberia National Police River Gee detachment.
