GBARNGA, Bong County, Aug. 2, 2026 — The Liberia National Police (LNP) has suspended five police officers without pay for one month following separate investigations by its Professional Standards Division (PSD) into allegations of misconduct and professional impropriety in Bong and Nimba counties.
Those suspended include Superintendent James Kartoe, CSD Commander of the Bong County Detachment, Inspector Hawa B. Kromah, of the Women and Children Section of the Bong Detachment, Chief Inspector Kessellee Tarwuleh, Chief Inspector Saye Kagborkaye, and Chief Inspector Alphonso Dahn.
Kartoe and Kromah will also be transferred after serving their suspensions, while Dahn has been ordered to restitute 60 gallons of fuel allegedly taken from a complainant.
The disciplinary actions stem from complaints filed by Bong County Attorney Jonathan N. Flomo involving officers of the Women and Children Protection Section (WACPS) in Bong County and a separate complaint by Nimba County businessman Emmanuel Tozay against a Police Support Unit officer.
The PSD directed all five officers to immediately cease performing police duties during their suspension. However, the division did not disclose the specific acts of misconduct or when the suspensions would take effect. The Liberia National Police has also not issued a public statement detailing the findings of the investigations.
