Monrovia, Liberia — The Foundation for Human Rights Defense International (FOHRD) has announced plans to sue Liberia’s Inspector General of Police, Gregory Coleman, over allegations that he failed to properly address or allegedly covered up several cases.
FOHRD Executive Director Torbor Tee Wonokay Fangalo said the organization intends to pursue legal action concerning what he described as cases allegedly mishandled by the Police Inspector General, including the Melvin Earley case and the ongoing drug investigation.
“FOHRD is suing Gregory Coleman for all the cases that he tried to cover up including the drug case,” Fangalo said.
He called on IG Coleman to recuse himself from the drug-related investigation, arguing that the allegations surrounding the police leadership could undermine public confidence in the process.
Fangalo also urged the Unity Party-led government to distance itself from what he described as alleged wrongdoing involving the Police Inspector General.
The allegations have not been independently established, and IG Coleman has not, in the information provided, publicly responded to the claims.
