Managers and heads of units at the General Auditing Commission (GAC) have completed a one-week training aimed at improving their leadership and management skills.
The training was part of the GAC’s ongoing Management Development Program and brought together senior and operational managers of the Commission.
The GAC said the program is intended to help managers better lead their teams and improve the quality of work across the Commission.
The training was facilitated by the African Organisation of English-speaking Supreme Audit Institutions (AFROSAI-E) and the Swedish National Audit Office.
According to the GAC, the sessions also focused on the International Standards of Supreme Audit Institutions (ISSAIs), including a review of audit manuals, methods, guidelines, handbooks and policies.
The workshop was held at the Cape Hotel in Monrovia, where participants discussed practical ways to manage staff, solve problems and improve teamwork.
The Commission said the managers were also trained in ethics, communication, coaching, accountability, staff development and managing changes in the workplace.
The training was facilitated by Gordon Kandoro of AFROSAI-E, Ingela Ekblom of the Swedish National Audit Office, and Frank Sina and Felicia Vyff of the Supreme Audit Institution of Tanzania.
The GAC said the training is expected to help its managers build stronger teams and maintain high standards in the Commission’s work.
