Giving Hope Through Skills: CDI Empowers Liberian Youth with Vocational Training

Monrovia, Liberia – The Center for Dignity and Inclusion (CDI) is leading impactful community outreach activities under the Youth Rising Liberia project, implemented by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) with funding from the European Union.

This initiative seeks to empower young people by promoting the value of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), creating vital opportunities for youth to improve their skills and secure sustainable livelihoods.

CDI Executive Director Khalifa Losene Dunor revealed that the project was officially launched on April 16, 2024, at the Agricultural and Industrial Training Bureau (AITB) located within the MVTC Compound. The first community outreach activity took place in the Black Gina Community on April 24, 2025, and outreach efforts are currently ongoing in the Stephen Tolbert Community.

Speaking as a guest on Friday’s edition of OK FM’s Morning Rush, Dunor emphasized that the outreach activities aim to educate and engage community members, particularly parents, youth, and at-risk groups, on the life-changing opportunities that TVET programs offer.

He further disclosed that the project will host an interactive community workshop on Saturday, April 26, 2025, in Jacob Town. During this event, TVET graduates will share their personal success stories, highlighting how vocational education has transformed their lives and career paths.

Also speaking on the initiative, CDI Program Officer Robert Doblah noted that the upcoming workshop will serve as a space for open dialogue, allowing community leaders, parents, and youth, including out-of-school, at-risk, and disabled individuals, to explore TVET’s transformative potential.

Doblah stressed that TVET is a powerful tool for equipping young people with the practical skills and knowledge they need to secure meaningful employment and contribute to Liberia’s socio-economic growth.

Dunor added that, through the Youth Rising Liberia project, CDI is committed to raising awareness and ensuring that more young people, especially those facing barriers such as disability or limited access to education, are given the chance to succeed.

In addition to outreach and workshops, the project will also include CDI’s participation in national-level forums and meetings to advocate for policies that promote youth development and strengthen Liberia’s technical and vocational training systems.

These efforts align with the broader goals of UNIDO and the European Union, which are to support inclusive development and empower youth in Liberia.
