The Liberia National Police has charged Global Logistics Services (GLS) General Manager Paul Jamaal King over his alleged role in a US$19.2 million cocaine transshipment that was intercepted at the Roberts International Airport on June 9, 2026.
King, 53, faces multiple charges, including drug trafficking, facilitation, transportation, storage, criminal conspiracy, and the importation and exportation of controlled substances.
According to the police charge sheet, King allegedly arranged shipping documents for six boxes falsely declared as containing lappas and Maggi cubes but later found to contain cocaine.
Investigators also allege that he attempted to secure the release of the shipment after it was intercepted and deleted portions of his WhatsApp conversations related to the case.
King denied any involvement in drug trafficking during police questioning but acknowledged that the shipment originated from his residence and that he arranged for its export.
The case has been forwarded to the Monrovia City Court, while police say the investigation of other suspects is ongoing.
Meanwhile, King’s lawyer, Cllr. Amara Sheriff, has requested a preliminary examination before Stipendiary Magistrate Ben Barco of the Monrovia City Court.
The request was granted, and the preliminary examination is scheduled for Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. King has been sent to the Monrovia Central Prison awaiting trial.
Amid public outcry and pressure to also arrest GLS CEO Peter Jamaal King and EHS Country Manager Arthur Abdullai whom multiple testimonies have allegedly linked to drug trafficking, transportation, storage and facilitation, the police said investigation is still ongoing.
