Monrovia, Liberia – The latest release from the Government of Liberia has confirmed this paper’s earlier report that Mr. George G. Solo has been nominated by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., as Liberia’s Ambassador-Designate to the Republic of Italy. The story was first reported by Verity News on August 11, 2025.
In a formal communication dated August 11, 2025, addressed to Vice President and President of the Senate Jeremiah Kpan Koung, President Boakai submitted Solo’s nomination for Senate confirmation, urging lawmakers to accord it expedited consideration to ensure a smooth transition in government.
A subsequent Executive Mansion statement, issued on August 12, 2025, reiterated the President’s call for the Senate to act promptly on the nomination when it reconvenes from its constituency break.
Upon confirmation, Ambassador-Designate Solo will be tasked with strengthening Liberia’s diplomatic ties with Italy, advancing bilateral cooperation, promoting economic partnerships, and representing the country’s interests abroad.
President Boakai also used the occasion to remind all public officials of the need to uphold diligence, integrity, professionalism, and loyalty in service to the nation.
The nomination now awaits legislative scrutiny and possible approval before Mr. Solo can officially assume his ambassadorial duties in Rome.
