Former Superintendent of Montserrado County Madam Grace Kpahn is on trial for allegedly ordering the demolition of private properties in the Tech Community on the Bushrod Island in District #15 Montserrado County.
On Wednesday, April 16, 2025, Madam Kpahn was arrested and brought the Monrovia City Court Stipendiary Magistrate Ben L. Barco to answer to her charges levied against her. Her arrest followed an arrest warrant issued by the Magistrate Barco ordering the Court sheriff to arrest and brings the living body of the former Montserrado official before the jurisdiction of the Court. Madam Kpahn arrest and subsequent trial is in connection with her alleged involvement with an illegal demolition exercise of two private residences in the Tech’s Community, Bushrod Island, Montserrado County.
According to court documents in possession of Verity News, showed that Madam Kpahn is being charged with Criminal Mischief in violation of section 15. 5 of the New Penal Cord of Liberia.
Her charges stem from a complaint filed by private prosecutors Benson Kun and Marck Harris, who allege that on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at approximately 3:30 p.m., defendant Madam Kpahn unlawfully ordered a yellow machine operator to carry out the destruction of their properties.
The homes, owned respectively by Mr. Magau and Madam Agnes, were said to be valued at a combined total of USD 241,450, with Magau’s house reportedly worth USD 83,795, and Madam Agnes’s building valued at USD 157,655.The writ emphasizes that the act was carried out “criminally, unlawfully and purposely,” violating the peace and dignity of the Republic of Liberia.
However, Madam Kpahn was released following a pretrial conference with Magistrate Barco in his Chambers. Meanwhile, the matter is expected to resume in the coming days or weeks before the Monrovia City Court.
