The office of Grand Kru County Senator Numene T. H. Bartekwa, Chairperson of the County Legislative Caucus, has announced the appointment of seasoned Liberian media professional Desmond Gbeleh Wion as Public Relations Officer. The appointment took effect on June 1, 2026.
According to the senator’s office, the decision reflects Wion’s proven confidence, professional competence, dedication, and long-standing commitment to supporting the senator’s work and the people of Grand Kru County.
As Public Relations Officer, Wion will lead the senator’s public communications. His responsibilities include preparing press releases and media statements, coordinating media engagements and interviews, covering official events, managing digital platforms, documenting the office’s work through photographs and reports, and expanding public awareness of the senator’s legislative and community development initiatives.
The Grand Kru lawmaker’s office expressed full confidence that Wion will carry out his duties with professionalism, integrity, and diligence. The office noted that his media experience will strengthen effective representation and visibility for Grand Kru County.
Reacting the appointment, Wion expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him.
“It is an honor and a privilege to serve Senator Bartekwa and the people of Grand Kru. This is not a right, but an opportunity, and I will use it to advance our county’s interests,” Wion said. He thanked Senator Bartekwa for the appointment and the citizens for electing a lawmaker committed to service.
Wion also pledged to uphold the highest ethical standards of public relations. He described the new role as a transition from mainstream journalism to public service.
“Lawmaker offices belong to the people. I will ensure Senator Bartekwa’s office remains visible, accessible, and responsive to citizens and the media. Our development initiatives and undertakings will be communicated effectively to every community,” he concluded.

Desmond Gbeleh Wion previously worked as co-host at SEAL FM 90.5 FM; reporter at ABC Radio 105.1 FM; roaming reporter at Voice of Liberia 104.1 FM; reporter at Liberia News Network; Editor-in-Chief at Angel TV; and Senior Reporter at Democracy Watch Newspaper before his appointment.
