In a significant effort to advance the Press Union of Liberia (PUL) objectives, journalists and media practitioners from across Liberia will convene in Monrovia on Friday, January 31, 2025.
According to a press release issued on Thursday, January 30, 2025, by PUL President Julius Kanubah, the gathering, organized by the leadership of the Press Union of Liberia, aims to provide a platform to assess the Union’s current status and explore strategies for strengthening its effectiveness. The discussions will focus on improving journalists’ welfare and promoting ethical journalism.
The meeting will commence at 10:30 AM at the PUL Headquarters on Clay Street. During the session, the PUL leadership will present findings and recommendations from the Technical Working Group Report on the PUL status, led by James Kpargoi. This report outlines the assets and liabilities inherited from previous PUL administrations and guides addressing the Union’s significant financial challenges and leveraging current assets, including land, vehicle, and human capital.
Additionally, the PUL leadership will share an overview of key engagements undertaken since October 2024 and outline a strategic action plan for the Union’s operations moving forward.
Members from various affiliated organizations, including the Reporters Association of Liberia (RAL), the Association of Liberian Community Radio (ALICOR), the Sports Writers Association of Liberia (SWAL), the Female Journalists Association of Liberia (FeJAL), the Publishers Association of Liberia (PAL), the Economic Journalists Association (EJA), the Foreign Stringers Association of Liberia, and the Editors Association will be in attendance, along with numerous media NGOs and county-based journalist associations.
