Land Dispute Stirs Tension in Grand Gedeh, Residents Seek Government Intervention

Residents of Gorhai Graba and Gboalu are appealing for urgent government intervention as a land dispute between the two communities continues to fuel tension.

Residents say the disagreement over the ownership of the land has left many people worried that the situation could get out of hand if it is not resolved soon.

They are calling on the Liberia Land Authority and local authorities to step in, investigate the dispute and bring both sides together to find a peaceful solution.

Some residents have also raised concerns about the presence of Burkinabè nationals in the area. However, there is no official information linking them to the land dispute.

Residents said they want the government to establish the facts, hear from all parties involved and resolve the matter through the law before the situation escalates.

They also appealed for security authorities to closely monitor the area to help maintain calm while efforts are made to settle the dispute.

As of press time, neither the Liberia Land Authority nor county authorities had issued an official statement on the matter.

Land disputes remain one of the leading causes of conflict in many parts of Liberia. Residents of Gorhai Graba and Gboalu say they are looking to the government to act quickly to preserve the peace and prevent the dispute from turning violent.
