The Grand Gedeh County Detachment of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has provided an update on a recent drug case transferred from the Liberia National Police (LNP) Headquarters in Zwedru City.
On Sunday, March 23, 2024, Anthony Nyenow, a 37-year-old Liberian national from the Krahn tribe and a resident of Zwedru City, was arrested at the LNP Headquarters after being found in possession of illegal substances. Two wraps of cocaine and three wraps of kush were discovered hidden inside a loaf of bread, with a total street value of approximately $20 USD and LRD 3,800.
During questioning, Nyenow confessed to the crime, admitting that he was instructed by individuals named Erka Biom and Agogo from the Biom Quarter Community to deliver the drugs to a suspect held in the police withholding cell.
Following his confession, the LDEA has initiated an investigation to locate and apprehend the individuals mentioned by Nyenow. The suspect has been formally charged with Unlicensed Possession of Controlled Drugs, including cocaine and kush. On March 25, 2025, Nyenow was forwarded to court, where he currently awaits trial.
The LDEA has reiterated its commitment to combating drug-related crimes across Liberia and ensuring that those involved are held accountable under the law.
