LFA and Lone Star Cell MTN Launch Momo Community League

In a bid to invigorate grassroots football and nurture young talent, the Liberia Football Association (LFA) has joined forces with Lone Star Cell MTN to introduce the Momo Community League.

The Under-17 community-based competition, unveiled in Montserrado County, aims to engage 16 local teams in a spirited display of skill and passion.

The league, structured with four zones, promises an electrifying round-robin format, showcasing the raw talent and dedication of community players.

With Liberia’s football landscape yearning for rejuvenation, the annual tournament is poised to become a beacon of hope, providing a platform for emerging stars to shine on a local stage.

Professor Sekou W. Konneh, the acting President of LFA, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, foreseeing a breeding ground for future football luminaries.

For Lone Star Cell MTN, represented by Chief Marketing Officer Rohit Narayan, the league marks a significant milestone for Liberia’s sporting programs.

At the heart of the initiative lies a commitment to grassroots development.

Each participating team received vital support, including financial backing of LD $72,000, along with essential gear provided by Lone Star Cell MTN. This gesture underscores the collective effort to nurture talent from the grassroots up.

The inaugural kickoff is scheduled for Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Barnesville Estate field, promising thrilling matches and fierce competition.

The participating communities, divided into four zones, represent a cross-section of Montserrado County, each eager to claim footballing glory:

Zone A: Barnesville, Dixville, Chicken Soup Factory, and Jacob Town
Zone B: West Point, PHP Community, Clay Street, and Freeport
Zone C: Brewerville, New Kru Town, Logan Town, and St. Paul Bridge
Zone D: Gbarnba Town, King Gray, VOA RIA, and R2 Community

As the countdown begins, anticipation builds for what promises to be a riveting showcase of Liberian footballing talent.

The Momo Community League stands as a testament to the power of collaboration in nurturing the next generation of football stars.
