LMDC Alerts Public to Medical Impersonation Threat

Monrovia – The Liberia Medical and Dental Council (LMDC) has raised alarms about an individual, Mohamed Ahmed Sheriff, who is allegedly impersonating a licensed medical doctor in Liberia. According to the LMDC, Sheriff has been presenting a forged medical license, purportedly signed by former LMDC Chairperson Dr. Linda Birch, with License Number 78/2057. However, the council has confirmed that this license is fraudulent, and Dr. Birch has denied ever issuing such a document.

The LMDC is now calling for the public’s assistance in locating Sheriff, who is suspected of practicing medicine without a valid license, a crime that poses serious risks to public health. The council emphasized that any form of medical or surgical practice by an unqualified individual is not only a criminal act but also a blatant violation of medical ethics.

In response to this alarming situation, civil society activist Martin K. N. Kollie has drawn attention to the dangers of medical fraud and urged greater vigilance in reporting suspected cases. The LMDC has called on citizens to report any information regarding Sheriff or similar cases to both the council and law enforcement authorities.

The council’s warning highlights the growing concern over individuals exploiting the trust placed in Liberia’s healthcare system. With the search for Sheriff gaining momentum, the LMDC’s alert underscores the urgent need to protect the integrity of the country’s medical profession and safeguard public health from fraudulent practices.
