LNP Cracks Down on Noise Pollution in Zwedru, Targets Motorcyclists with Loud Sound Systems

By D. Abraham Cooper

The Grand Gedeh County Detachment of the Liberia National Police (LNP) has launched an enforcement campaign against noise pollution in Zwedru, targeting commercial motorcyclists who operate with loud MP3 sound systems.

According to police authorities, the initiative is intended to restore public order, reduce excessive noise, and create a more peaceful environment for residents across the city.

The operation follows growing complaints from residents about the widespread use of high-volume music and amplified sound systems in public areas.

Police say excessive noise can affect public health, disrupt daily activities, and negatively impact the quality of life in communities.

The latest action forms part of broader efforts by the Government of Liberia, the Liberia National Police, and environmental authorities to address increasing concerns about noise pollution across the country.

Authorities have warned that motorcyclists found violating noise regulations will face enforcement measures as the campaign continues.

The LNP says the exercise is aimed at ensuring compliance with laws and regulations designed to keep Zwedru peaceful, orderly, and conducive for both residents and businesses.
