KAKATA, Margibi County — A mass jailbreak has been reported at the Kakata Central Prison in Margibi County, with inmates escaping the facility, prompting an ongoing security operation to recapture the fugitives.
The Joint Security has been alerted and is actively searching for the escaped inmates, according to the Ministry of Justice.
In a statement Sunday, September 20, the Ministry officially confirmed the jailbreak but said the exact number and identities of the escapees have not yet been established.
The Bureau of Corrections and Rehabilitation is currently reconciling prison records to determine the full details of the incident.
The Ministry said the identities of the escapees will be released after verification to aid their recapture.
