MONROVIA – Margibi County Senator Nathaniel F. McGill has dismissed as “false and misleading” a Unity Party statement alleging that a recent drug raid occurred near his residence in the VOA Community along the Roberts International Airport Highway.
In a statement issued Tuesday, McGill’s office said the Liberia National Police’s live broadcast of the operation showed the suspected narcotics were discovered in the VOA Community but not near the senator’s home. The statement argued that several other senior government officials, including National Security Advisor Samuel Kofi Woods II and Liberia Maritime Authority Commissioner Neto Zarzar Lighe Sr., also reside in the community.
The senator’s office accused the Unity Party of attempting to create an unfounded connection between McGill and the law enforcement operation, describing the action as politically motivated and unsupported by facts.
McGill maintained that he has consistently supported efforts to combat drug trafficking and organized crime, emphasizing that security operations should remain professional, impartial, and free from political interference.
The statement called on the Unity Party to retract its claim and issue a public correction, asserting that Liberians deserve accurate information rather than what it described as politically driven misinformation.
