Missing Man Found Dead in Grand Gedeh as Coroner Jury Suspects Foul Play

KANNEH CLAN, Grand Gedeh County, Liberia — A man identified as Sam Geekor, head of Grebo citizens residing in Kanneh Clan, Grand Gedeh County, has been found dead after reportedly going missing for four days, with a 15-member coroner jury raising suspicions of foul play.

Geekor’s body was discovered on the morning of Friday, October 23, 2026, opposite his cassava farm near a small stream, following days of searching by family members and villagers, according to local accounts.

The Liberia National Police (LNP) detachment in Grand Gedeh County was reportedly alerted at approximately 10 a.m. after the discovery. However, the circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear.

Wife Recounts His Disappearance

The deceased’s wife, Madam Alemia Geekor, told reporters that her husband left their village at approximately 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 20, to harvest cassava for the family’s consumption before they proceeded to their rice farm.

She said Geekor failed to return home after several hours, prompting concern among family members and eventually leading to a search for him.

According to her account, the family had discussed the previous day the possibility of her husband traveling to town to obtain a sleeping mat. His sister and her boyfriend were also reportedly in the village to assist with the rice harvest, although she clarified that the travel plans had not been finalized.

Madam Geekor said she and her late husband’s brother-in-law subsequently began searching for him, first going to the cassava farm where he had been working that morning.

During the search, they reportedly discovered his bag at the farm but could not find him, leaving his whereabouts unknown until his body was discovered days later.

Coroner Jury Raises Suspicion of Foul Play

Meanwhile, a 15-member coroner jury reportedly raised concerns about possible foul play following an examination of the deceased.

According to the jury’s reported findings, a cut mark was observed on the left side of Geekor’s neck, prompting questions about the circumstances surrounding his death.

However, the reported injury does not, on its own, establish the cause of death or confirm whether another person was involved.

The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unresolved, and further investigation is necessary to determine how Geekor died and whether a criminal act occurred.

Investigation Needed to Establish Cause of Death

The discovery has raised concerns among family members and residents of Kanneh Clan, who are awaiting further information about the circumstances that led to Geekor’s death.

The Liberia National Police was reportedly notified following the discovery of the body, but no further details about the status of the investigation or any possible suspects were provided in the information available to Verity News.

Authorities are expected to establish the cause and circumstances of death through the appropriate investigative procedures.
