The Catholic Church in Liberia has welcomed the newly ordained Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Monrovia, Rev. Monsignor Dr. Gabriel Blamo Snosio Jubwe, urging him to embrace selflessness in his leadership amidst the challenges facing the Church.
The call to prioritize selfless service was made by the Most Reverend, H.E. Miroslaw Adamczyk, the Apostolic Nuncio to Liberia, Sierra Leone, and The Gambia, who arrived in Monrovia to formally execute a diplomatic mission.
The Episcopal Ordination of Very Rev. Monsignor Dr. Gabriel Blamo Snosio Jubwe took place on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 10:00 A.M. at the Cathedral Catholic Church on Broad Street, Monrovia, amidst a pontifical mass attended by government officials and international delegates from the Vatican, the United States, Europe, and Africa.
During the induction ceremony, Most Rev. Miroslaw Adamczyk emphasized the need for Archbishop Jubwe to exemplify the compassionate leadership of Jesus Christ, urging him to embody humility and service.
“The greatest should behave as the least, and rulers should behave as servants,” said Most Rev. Miroslaw Adamczyk.
He stressed the importance of servant leadership in the role of Archbishop.
Rev. Miroslaw Adamczyk further encouraged Archbishop Jubwe to embrace diversity and prioritize charitable programs that uplift the marginalized, including the poor, weak, needy, immigrants, and strangers, thereby reflecting the inclusive legacy of Jesus Christ in Liberia.
The installation ceremony, attended by regional prelates from neighboring countries and local bishops and lay faithful from across Liberia, underscored the significance of peace, unity, vision, and direction in fulfilling the mission of the Catholic Church in Liberia.
As Archbishop Jubwe now joins the global college of Archbishops across the globe.
Rev. Miroslaw Adamczyk emphasized that he views Rev. Monsignor Dr. Gabriel Blamo Snosio Jubwe ordination as a call to service rather than a position of honor.
The Catholic community expects him to lead with unconditional dedication and readiness to face the challenges inherent in his new role.
The ordination festivities spanned two days, including the induction ceremony and a Thanksgiving Mass on Saturday and Sunday, May 4 and 5, respectively.
At the Thanksgiving Mass, Archbishop Jubwe reaffirmed his commitment to serving the expectations of the Catholic community.He highlighted considering collaboration and unity among fellow Catholics to advance the Church’s mission in Liberia.
