ZWEDRU, Grand Gedeh County – Public frustration is mounting in Grand Gedeh County as citizens prepare to stage a peaceful protest on July 26, accusing local authorities and the county’s Legislative Caucus of ignoring the unresolved disappearance of several residents while focusing on Independence Day celebrations.
One of the key organizers, John Goah, said the group will not participate in the July 26 Independence Day celebrations as long as questions surrounding the missing individuals remain unanswered.
In a public statement, the organizers criticized what they described as the silence of local authorities, arguing that government officials have failed to provide the public with meaningful updates on the investigation into the missing persons.
“While our brothers remain missing and the local authorities stay silent, the Grand Gedeh County Legislative Caucus is busy preparing for the July 26 celebrations.
We refuse to celebrate while our people are missing.”
The group is calling on all citizens of Grand Gedeh County to join the peaceful demonstration, saying the protest is intended to demand accountability, transparency, and urgent action from the relevant authorities.
According to the organizers, the demonstration is not intended to disrupt public order but to ensure that the disappearance of the missing individuals remains a top priority for local leaders and national security agencies.
The planned protest comes amid growing concern among residents, who say they have waited too long for clear information about the fate of the missing individuals.
According to information gathered by Verity News from community sources, more than seven people have reportedly gone missing in Grand Gedeh County in recent months, and their whereabouts remain unknown. However, authorities have yet to publicly confirm the total number of missing persons or provide a comprehensive update on the ongoing investigations.
Many community members are urging law enforcement authorities to intensify search efforts, provide regular public updates, and bring those responsible to justice if foul play is established.
