In a move aimed at confronting inadequate learning conditions in underserved communities, the Empower HER Foundation, led by young Liberian woman Dorothy Siah Stanley, has launched its “Desk for Dreams” Project under the theme, “Seat a Child, Shape the Future.”
The initiative seeks to improve the learning environment for children by providing basic educational resources and classroom furniture to schools facing shortages.
As part of the launch, Empower HER Foundation donated 100 armchairs to Soniwein Public School, providing students with improved seating arrangements and a more dignified environment for learning.
The Foundation also distributed educational school supplies to 300 students at the school, giving them essential materials needed to participate more effectively in their studies.
For Executive Director Dorothy Siah Stanley and the Empower HER Foundation, the intervention goes beyond the provision of chairs and school supplies.
The Foundation says the project represents an investment in education, dignity and opportunity, while highlighting the need for greater support for children learning in underserved communities across Liberia.
The “Desk for Dreams” initiative comes at a time when access to adequate educational infrastructure remains a major concern for many Liberian schools, particularly those serving communities with limited resources.
Through the project, Empower HER Foundation says it intends to expand its support to additional underserved schools and communities across the country.
The organization is calling the initiative a commitment to ensuring that children have the basic tools and environment necessary to learn, dream and build a better future.
“Seat a Child. Shape the Future” has therefore become more than the project’s slogan it is the Foundation’s call for increased investment in Liberia’s next generation.
The Empower HER Foundation says it will continue working to build bridges for women’s success while investing in the education and future of Liberian children.
