” No Ill Will, Just Procedure Breach” — Redemption Hospital Clarifies Vicky Gray Incident

Monrovia, Liberia – Redemption Hospital management has issued a formal statement clarifying circumstances surrounding a recent incident involving Liberian humanitarian Dr. Vicky Gray, who reportedly attempted to make an unannounced donation to the facility.

According to the hospital, the visit was not pre-informed to authorities, a situation management says raised concerns regarding established institutional protocols, particularly those relating to patient privacy, safety, and confidentiality.

“At no time did the hospital authorities refuse Dr. Gray’s donation out of spite, ill will, or disregard for the needs of our patients,” the statement noted. “Rather, the situation arose because hospital management was not informed in advance of the visit.”

The administration further explained that the manner in which the donation process was initiated allegedly triggered procedural concerns, prompting officials to intervene in order to protect patient rights and maintain hospital standards.

Management stated that it viewed the situation as a breach of protocol and subsequently requested that Dr. Gray return during regular operating hours to allow the donation process to be properly coordinated and distributed through approved channels.

“Redemption Hospital remains committed to ensuring that all activities conducted within the facility are carried out in accordance with procedures designed to safeguard the dignity, confidentiality, and well-being of our patients,” the statement added.

The hospital emphasized that its operations prioritize patient safety and professionalism, noting that all donations are expected to follow formal administrative procedures to ensure accountability and proper distribution.

It also rejected any suggestion of mismanagement of donated items, stating that under the current administration, there has been no instance in which donations intended for patients were diverted for staff use.

“We maintain strict accountability measures to ensure that all donations reach their intended beneficiaries,” management said.

Redemption Hospital expressed appreciation for individuals and organizations supporting its services but urged future donors to coordinate ahead of time to avoid similar incidents.

The hospital reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, order, and high standards of patient care.
