Monrovia, Liberia- In a move to ease the growing traffic of ships at the Freeport of Monrovia, the management of the National Port Authority (NPA) has announced an extension of its operational hours at Liberia’s busiest seaport.
NPA late release issued on April 28, 2025, revealed a new schedule, which takes immediate effect, in response to a surge in vessel traffic that has led to significant delays in container clearance and exits.
According to the release, under the revised operational hours, the port will now operate from: Monday to Friday: 8:00 AM – 9:00 PM, Saturday: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM, and Sunday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
The NPA Management, through its Public Affairs Department, has called on all port users and stakeholders to cooperate fully with the new schedule, which is aimed at improving efficiency and reducing bottlenecks in container movement.
“This adjustment is part of our ongoing efforts to streamline port operations and improve cargo turnaround times,” the statement read.
The Freeport of Monrovia is a critical hub for Liberia’s trade and commerce, and the NPA’s proactive measure is expected to bring much-needed relief to importers, exporters, and logistics companies affected by recent delays.
