Police investigate patrolman Wessay Wilson Weah for alleged rape of a 16-year-old girl

Ganta City, Nimba, May 12, 2026 – Police in Ganta City are investigating one of their colleagues, patrolman Wessay Wilson Weah for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl.

According to the police, patrolman Wessay W. Weah of the Women and Children Protection Section (WACPS), Ganta Zone-1 Base, Nimba County, was responsible to supervise the 16-year-old female juvenile who was placed in temporary custody after a theft-related complaint filed by her parents on May 8, 2026.

According to police reports, the alleged victim later returned home and accused the officer of sexually assaulting her while she was in his care.

Police authorities say the accused officer has been arrested and remains in detention pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation.

The juvenile was escorted to a medical facility for examination, with preliminary reports reportedly indicating signs consistent with sexual assault.

The LNP says it is also examining the circumstances surrounding the juvenile’s departure from custody and whether any police procedures were violated.

The police force reaffirmed its commitment to protecting vulnerable persons and vowed to take legal action against any officer found guilty of misconduct or abuse.
