President Joseph N. Boakai, Sr. on Friday, May 2, 2025, visited the construction site of what is expected to become Liberia’s most advanced poultry production facility ( the Liberia Poultry Project ) situated in Careysburg, Lower Montserrado County. The project is seen as a flagship initiative under the President’s ARREST Agenda, which prioritizes Agriculture, Roads, Rule of Law, Education, Sanitation, and Tourism.
The $26 million state-funded development spans 50 acres, with 25 acres already under active construction. Once completed, the facility is projected to produce up to 200,000 eggs per day, marking a major breakthrough for local poultry production. This effort aims to significantly cut Liberia’s reliance on imported eggs and chicken, while also reinforcing food security and economic self-reliance.
Describing the facility as a turning point for Liberia’s agriculture sector, President Boakai highlighted its importance in job creation and national development. “This poultry project will serve all corners of our country and provide thousands of jobs for Liberians, particularly young people,” he remarked during the tour.
The Liberia Poultry Project will not only focus on large-scale egg and poultry production but also contribute to training, employment, and the empowerment of local farmers. It reflects the government’s broader commitment to rebuilding the nation’s agricultural foundation and promoting sustainable growth.
President Boakai was accompanied by several senior officials including Minister of State for Presidential Affairs Sylvester Grigsby, Minister of State without Portfolio Mamaka Bility, and Presidential Press Secretary Kula Fofana.
The project stands as a beacon of agricultural revival and economic promise, reinforcing Liberia’s journey toward food sovereignty and rural transformation.
