Monrovia – On March 4, 2025, President Joseph Nyuma Boakai took another significant step in Liberia’s development by commissioning the newly appointed leadership of the Central Bank of Liberia (CBL) and a group of ambassadors designated to represent Liberia in various foreign countries. The ceremony, held at the Executive Mansion, underscored the President’s focus on strengthening both national economic stability and Liberia’s position on the global stage.
In his address, President Boakai stressed the importance of integrity and patriotism for those in public service. He called on the newly appointed officials to serve selflessly, reminding them that their role is not for personal gain but to work for the benefit of the Liberian people. The President also emphasized that national development requires more than just resources; it demands a genuine commitment to the people of Liberia.
“We must look within ourselves and recognize that no country can be greater than its people’s commitment to building it,” he remarked, urging the appointees to always remember that their work is for Liberia, from Monrovia to every corner of the nation. He further pointed out that Liberia possesses all the necessary resources to achieve progress, provided those resources are managed well.
President Boakai highlighted the essential role the Central Bank plays in Liberia’s economic framework. Among the individuals sworn in were Honorable Henry F. Saamoi as Executive Governor of the Central Bank of Liberia, Honorable James B. Wilfred as Deputy Governor for Operations, and a host of ambassadors, including Dr. Al-Hassan Conteh to the United States, Dr. Brahima D. Kaba to Kuwait, and J. Levi Demmah to Belgium. Other appointees include Honorable Joseph F. Johnson to Morocco, Mohammed B.O.S. Kenneth to Qatar, Ali Sylla to Senegal, Forkpa Gizzie, Sr. to Guinea, and Edward Wade Appleton to Japan.
