President Joseph Boakai has called on Liberians to embrace unity and collective responsibility as the Muslim community begins the observance of the Holy Month of Ramadan.
In a message delivered to the nation, President Boakai extended warm greetings in the name of Almighty Allah, recognizing the spiritual significance of Ramadan. He commended Liberian Muslims for their commitment to fasting and prayer during this sacred period, emphasizing that the blessings sought during Ramadan extend beyond the Muslim community to the entire nation.
Quoting verse ninety-two of the twenty-first chapter of the Holy Qur’an, the President underscored the importance of unity under one God. “This nation of yours is one nation, and I am your Lord, so worship Me,” he said, highlighting the shared faith in the Almighty as a unifying force for all Liberians.
President Boakai acknowledged the country’s cultural and religious diversity but stressed that Liberians are deeply interrelated, with the actions of one group inevitably affecting others. He urged citizens to foster a spirit of togetherness and solidarity, particularly during Ramadan, to promote peace, stability, and national progress.
“It is my hope that we all strive for greater national unity and cohesiveness,” President Boakai stated. “Understanding that we are essentially one people created by One God is the key to fostering the spirit of togetherness.”
The President called Muslim worshippers to prioritize prayers for Liberia’s peace, tranquility, and development. He urged all Liberians, regardless of faith, to reflect on their shared responsibility to “Think Liberia, Love Liberia, and Build Liberia.”
Concluding his message, President Boakai invoked the Islamic declaration “Allahu Akbar” as a symbol of faith and solidarity, expressing optimism that Liberia will continue to progress through unity and collective prayer.
