Representative Sam Jallah referred to Rules and Order Committee for Investigation

The leadership of the House of Representatives has forwarded Bomi County Electoral District #3 Representative, Hon. Sam P. Jallah, to its Committee on Rules, Order and Administration for investigation following a formal complaint from fellow lawmakers.

The complaint stems from recent public remarks made by Rep. Jallah concerning the just passed supplementary budget, in which he was quoted as saying that “one person can just sit and sign the budget.” The statement has drawn concern among members, prompting calls for clarification and accountability.

During a leadership meeting held on Monday, a motion was proffered by Bong County Electoral District #3 Representative, Hon. J. Marvin Cole, requesting that Rep. Jallah submit himself to the Committee on Rules, Order and Administration for a full investigation into the matter. The motion was subsequently endorsed, paving the way for the Committee’s review.

According to the decision, the Committee will conduct its inquiry and report its findings and recommendations to Plenary for further legislative action.

Meanwhile, the Speaker of the House of Representatives Richard Nagbe Koon has called on the Bomi County lawmaker to fully cooperate with the Committee throughout the investigative process, emphasizing the importance of upholding the integrity, decorum, and rules governing the House.

The committee is expected to carry out its investigation and report to plenary upon the resumption of session in May.

The action underscores the House’s commitment to maintaining discipline and ensuring that the conduct of its members reflects the standards expected of the Legislature.
