MONROVIA, LIBERIA — Civil rights activist and Chief Executive Officer of the Siakeh Foundation, Amb. Thur Siakeh, has criticized what he describes as growing political and personal bias in public reactions to information published by Liberian activist Martin K. N. Kollie.
In a statement titled “Deception at Its Peak,” Siakeh said reactions to Kollie’s posts generally fall into three categories: people who objectively assess the information, individuals who defend those under scrutiny, and politicians or partisans who judge information based on political affiliations.
According to Siakeh, some people dismiss information as “false” or “misleading” when it concerns individuals they support, while accepting similar claims when they involve political opponents.
He argued that truth and facts should not be determined by political affiliation or personal relationships.
“We may not always agree with Martin, but we should appreciate the work he does and continues to do in bringing information and public discourse to Liberia,” Siakeh stated.
The civil rights activist thanked Kollie for his continued efforts and contribution to public discourse, saying the country would benefit from greater commitment to facts and accountability.
