Margibi – The Chief Executive Officer of the Siakeh Foundation, Hon. Thur Siakeh, has challenged hundreds of young people in Margibi County to embrace discipline, integrity, and hard work as the foundation for success, while making a donation of educational materials and scholarships to support their learning.
Hon. Siakeh delivered the message Thursday, August 6, when he served as guest speaker at the official launch of the Ministry of Youth and Sports’ Margibi Chapter Annual Vacation Enrichment Program in Kakata.
Addressing more than 400 students, parents, teachers, and education stakeholders, Siakeh stressed that academic success is built gradually through discipline, perseverance, and responsible choices.
“The student who respects others succeeds. The student who keeps trying succeeds,” he told the gathering, adding, “Success is built one day at a time, one lesson at a time, and one good decision at a time.”
He encouraged the students to remember that “small steps lead to big success,” emphasizing that while knowledge is powerful, good character is equally important.
“You can be intelligent and still fail if you lack discipline. You can be talented and still struggle if you lack respect. You can have great ideas and still go nowhere if you lack integrity,” he said.
Hon. Siakeh also urged the students to become responsible citizens by respecting their communities, helping others, obeying the law, protecting public property, and representing Liberia with pride.
“Every great nation depends on responsible citizens, and every responsible citizen begins as a responsible student,” he noted.
Speaking directly to the young people, the Siakeh Foundation CEO reminded them that their present circumstances should not discourage them from pursuing their dreams.
“Your background does not determine your future. Your challenges do not define you. Your circumstances do not limit you. With God, discipline, education, and determination, you can become more than you ever imagined,” he declared.
He encouraged the students to dream big, work hard, continue learning beyond the classroom, build knowledge and character, and never stop believing in what God can accomplish through them.
Hon. Siakeh also expressed appreciation to parents for their sacrifices and commended the Ministry of Youth and Sports for organizing the annual vacation enrichment program, describing it as a valuable initiative that keeps young people meaningfully engaged during the school break.
He further appealed to the Ministry to recognize and appreciate the volunteer teachers serving in the program, saying they deserve to be rewarded for sacrificing their time to educate the children.
As part of his support for the initiative, Hon. Siakeh, through the Siakeh Foundation, donated 200 copybooks, 200 pencils, and two scholarships for deserving students to enroll at the LIB Vocational Training Institute.
The donation was warmly received by participants, who applauded the Foundation’s contribution toward promoting education and youth development in Margibi County.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports’ Annual Vacation Enrichment Program is designed to provide students with academic reinforcement and productive activities during the vacation period as they prepare for the new school year.
