Ghanaian authorities have arrested three individuals accused of allegedly representing and facilitating the activities of Dutch fugitive Jos Leijdekkers.
The arrests follow the seizure by French customs authorities earlier this month of a large cocaine shipment reportedly originating from a Ghanaian port.
Ghana’s Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) confirmed the arrests in a statement issued in Accra, but declined to disclose the identities of the suspects.
According to the Commission, the identities are being withheld to protect the rights of the individuals, who have not been formally indicted.
Authorities say investigations are continuing to determine the suspects’ alleged roles and their possible connections to Leijdekkers.
The case has heightened attention on Ghana’s role in international drug trafficking networks, particularly following the reported seizure of the cocaine shipment in France.
