Monrovia, Liberia — August 23, 2026: The Liberia National Police (LNP) has confirmed a fatal road traffic accident that occurred on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at approximately 4:20 p.m., in Mazinsu, Bong County, along the Weala–Salala route.
Preliminary police reports indicate that the accident involved three vehicles: a Kia Motor vehicle, a trailer, and a truck.
The tragic incident resulted in nine casualties. Three female victims were pronounced dead, while two victims are in critical condition and have been admitted for medical treatment. Four other victims are also receiving treatment for injuries sustained in the accident.
The injured victims are being treated at C.H. Rennie Hospital and Barcoller Health Center in Margibi County.
As part of the ongoing investigation, the vehicles involved in the accident have been impounded and are currently being held at the Margibi County Police Station and the Salala Police Station.
The Liberia National Police extends its deepest condolences to the bereaved families and loved ones of the deceased and wishes those injured a speedy recovery.
The LNP is continuing its investigation to establish the full circumstances surrounding the tragic accident and will provide additional information as the investigation progresses.
The Liberia National Police further urges all motorists to exercise maximum caution, observe traffic regulations, and drive responsibly to help prevent avoidable road traffic accidents and protect lives.
